OkaKnowledgy! March 19th: FROM TIME IMMEMORIAL – WE. ARE. STILL. HERE.

Join us Wednesday, March 19th 6:30pm at the Okanogan PUD Auditorium for a presentation by Jackie Cook – Tribal Repatriation Specialist for the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation.

This presentation provides an overview of the work of the History and Archaeology Department of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation. Beginning with a background on the culture and history of the twelve tribes and a history of U.S. government acts and policies, the talk will introduce the archeological and historical programs and initiatives that carry on the work of indigenous cultural preservation and revitalization in this region. Ranging from archaeological exploration and conservation of cultural resources to negotiations over traditional rights, the talk will highlight the effects of land returned, rights restored, and the ongoing work of repatriation.

This event is co-hosted with the Okanogan County Historical Society who will be at the event with historical books and resources for sale as well as membership sign-up options.

We will have coffee and snacks and some Land Trust gear at the event. See you there!
